This is for the empaths and introverts. For the ones who like to curl up with a hot cup of something and put their most intimate thoughts & feelings down on the page.

This here is a thread of notes, resources, and inspiration dedicated to the gift of writing ~ as a pathway to healing. So get cozy, stay for a little while, and read on.

Writing To Heal

This is a topic that I’ve been wanting to touch on for a little while now.

With so much going on in the world + so much to process, we need ways to tune back in. Over the years, writing has played a huge role in my creative & spiritual journey.

Most of what you see created here on Spirit & Muse, is inspired by tapping into my inner wisdom - through writing.

Have You Ever Been Brought To Tears By A Piece Of Writing?

Or felt the weight lift off of your chest, when a writer (you admire) wrote words you were meaning to say. The writer said the thing that was coiled around your heart. They put words to a feeling you couldn’t explain. They provided a space for you to release.

If you’ve ever experienced any of that, you know the power of the right words ~ written at the right time. It’s a gift.

Writing is where Presence can meet you (as is) and encourage you to…

  • Listen.

  • Lay it all out.

  • See what’s there.

  • Acknowledge it (openly and honestly).

  • Have compassion.

  • Recommit and tune back in.

The blank page is always there for you.

It’s the (metaphorical) hand stretched out, the tissue that catches the tears, the shoulder to cry on. When there’s an emotional wad inside, writing can help you release + understand some things.

Writing is an outlet. It’s a safe space to acknowledge our path, our pain, our victories, our failures, and our fears.

I know, you know, how important it is to have somewhere to put it all.

writing can’t heal everything…

I am not in any way trying to offer writing as an alternative to medicine, surgeries, or any therapy that helps those going through debilitating conditions.

I’m not insensitive to those who are going through trauma, illness, or other physical turmoil.

Writing cannot heal everything.

I pray for,

  • Your safety,

  • Your comfort,

  • And for the resources you need ~ to heal fully.

I see you, and if there’s anything I can create on this side (to be a light in your experience ~ as you go through your treatments and recovery), please let me know.

When I say write to heal, I’m referring to using writing as a pathway to emotional healing.

Writing is a tool.

Sometimes, the mental chatter runs wild, and you need some way to help slow it down.

Sometimes, you’re not fully aware of what you’re thinking, and you need somewhere to sort it all out.

Sometimes, you just need a safe space to express yourself. Writing can offer that safe space.

It is the gift that helps point you back towards what matters. It’s a bridge to your healing.

Healing doesn’t always have to feel like some big, miraculous shift. The subtle shifts that writing helps you tune into, can be healing too.

Healing Can Also Feel Like…

  • Dropping back into your body.

  • Gaining clarity before making a move.

  • Being easier on yourself and others.

  • Listening to understand - instead of criticizing.

  • Deep compassion and trust.

  • Getting space between you and the unfavorable experience.

  • Responding differently to what has hurt you in the past.

Those things symbolize healing as well. Writing can help you see what you need, to move towards your healing. It’s not the actual thing that heals. Embodiment of well-being is, but it can be a bridge to that embodiment. I hope this post helps spark some new ideas + helps on your writing to heal journey.

Well, There You Have It ~ Writing To Heal Inspiration + Resources

Writing is an awesome outlet. I always say that it’s so kind that we were given the space to let it out. To sort through it. To put it down on the page. It’s healing just to be able to write it down and listen.

Writing offers more than just a space to vent. It’s a space to flow, to connect with a higher Presence, to dive deep, and to express yourself. It is a wonderful gift, that life entrusted You and I with.
